This page will give you an account of what it is like to live in a host family for our students once they have started their internships in July 2019. Stay tuned!

Hi! My name is Selin.
My host family was very nice. On the first day our host mom greeted us as if we were their own children. I lived with my friend Damla and we felt very comfortable. We had two own rooms and also a private bathroom. So we had enough space and enough privacy. In the beginning it was a bit unusual to live in a foreign country with strange people but we settled in very fast and had a lot of fun together. While we lived with our host family we also got to know 2 Frenchwomen who were also our age and lived there for a month through Erasmus. We also got to know a Mexican woman but she stayed there a little longer.
Our host parents were also very helpful whenever we had questions, at the beginning for example how to get to work they always helped and supported us immediately. Since we had 4 dogs at home, we were never bored when we stayed at home.
The food was always good too, I am vegetarian and therefore our host mum always prepared things for us without meat which was very nice. All in all I enjoyed the time in Ireland very much and it was really fun to live with my host family.
Damla and I enjoyed the time in Dublin very much and we experienced it very well. We tried to see as much of Dublin as possible and we definitely did. I hope I will be able to see my host parents again one day.
The place we lived in was called Tallaght and was unfortunately a bit away from the centre and my work. I had to take the bus for about an hour to get to the city. My work took me a little longer than an hour but that wasn't so bad since I had good working hours.

Hey, I'm Damla.
Together with Selin we lived in Tallaght with Kay and Gary. We also had four dogs, Grizmo, Chanel, Coco and Milly. We were very surprised when we got there, because our host mummy and daddy were very kind. Kay, our mum, showed us our rooms and the bath, she made us some pizza and told us to feel and pretend as if it's our own home. Quick we felt at home. Every morning I got to talk with Kay. We always drunk some coffee at her terrace. She told me a lot about her and her boyfriend Gary. She is such a good person and talking to her every day helped me feel safe and accepted. The last day we got presents for her and Gary. She also had a little gift for us. She said we were the best children she had. I would never miss a visit to Kay, if I ever get to go to Dublin again. |
