My Erasmus month in Ireland was an amazing experience. I spent four weeks in Cork because I wanted to improve my English and try something new. I stayed with a host family in Wilton, and they were super nice and welcoming. They made me feel at home right away, and through our daily conversations, I learned a lot. I did my internship at WebWorkhouse, an internet café where people could rent computers for a certain amount of time for work or just for personal use. There was also food and drinks available, so it was always busy. My tasks were quite varied: I had to print, scan, and copy documents, passports, and other paperwork, and sometimes I helped customers with technical issues. I worked from 9 AM to 3 PM, and time flew by because there was always something to do. After work and on weekends, I explored Cork and its surroundings as much as possible. Some of the most impressive places I visited were Cobh, the last stop of the Titanic, and Blarney Castle, where you can kiss the famous stone. I also loved Kinsale, a small coastal town with colorful houses and great food. Another highlight was Gougane Barra, a beautiful place with a small chapel by a lake, surrounded by nature. The weather was mostly typical Irish rainy and unpredictable, but I didn’t mind. However the best part of this month wasn’t just the traveling or the internship, it was the personal growth I experienced. I became more confident, made new connections, and learned how to navigate a completely new environment. My English improved significantly, and I also gained a new way of thinking. Overall, it was an incredible experience that I would recommend to anyone. Ireland was definitely worth the trip! |
