Feyzanur Alici@La Rossa
I work in the city centre at the Aarhus street food market. The company I work for is called La Rossa. We sell different types of pizza. The dough consists of pizza flour and half strong flour. My main tasks are cutting the pizzas into pieces, heating them up in the oven and serving them on a plate. There is also a small room where we wash the dishes. We also get orders from customers via the app. I have already met so many nice people. My co-workers are great too. |
Yasin Ayhan@Crêpe a la cart/ Med Mex
I first worked for a company called “Lima Empanadas“, but on my very first day, they sent me to the production facility and this was not what I had expected. So I filed a complaint and I got a new chance at another company called Crêpe a la cart. As the company name suggests, we make crêpes (sweet & savoury). My boss has two booths on the street food market, Crêpe a la cart/ Med Mex. If I don’t have anything to do at my booth, I go to help at the other one. I work from Tuesday to Sunday from 12 pm to 5 pm.
My tasks include:
After work, I usually take a nap and then I head to the city and find some cool places.
My co – workers are so nice. They always talk with me and help me with everything, so they don’t judge me. When my time in Denmark is over, I will completely know how to make crêpes, clean and deal with customers
PS: My favourite crêpes are spinach and the special ones.

Eren Azar@Garage BurgerBar
On the one hand I was very surprised, but on the other hand I was also happy to meet a new challenge when I found out that I was going to work in a burger bar. The name of the burger bar I worked for is Garage BurgerBar and it offers different types of burgers, fries but also different drinks. I work from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and therefore I have enough time to discover Denmark and its sights. We always work in groups of three. One person is in the kitchen preparing the salad and sauces for the burgers and fries and the others are busy at the cash register and making the burgers, fries and drinks as well as serving customers and cleaning the tables. Through my work I learned: - dealing with Danish currency (Danish kroner). - taking orders and operating the cash register - facing and dealing with different and unexpected situations - preparing burgers, fries and drinks All in all, I am really enjoying the stay and the work here and I recommend everyone to use this opportunity and visit Denmark. |
Berkmann Constantin@Shogun Wok Sushi
During my stay in Denmark, I had the pleasure to work at a restaurant in the Street Food mall in Aarhus, called Shogun Wok Sushi. As the name already says, Shogun Wok Sushi is an Asian restaurant which sells all kinds of wok and sushi. I was really excited when I heard that I was going to work in a street food shop, because I've never worked in a kitchen before. My workdays always look different, because there is an early shift (9:30a.m. to 4:00p.m.) and a late shift (4:30p.m. to 10:30p.m.). I have to prepare food (for instance sushi or sushi bowls), serve the customers and clean the kitchen. My co-workers are very friendly and showed me every little step, from cleaning to making sushi. I am absolutely grateful to have had the opportunity to go abroad and work at Shogun Wok Sushi. Of course, it is really stressful sometimes, but my co-workers always remain kind. My boss once said I should make mistakes, because that is how you learn the most. Additionally, I had the pleasure to meet some new people and gain more experience in speaking English. |
Copic Nikolina@Za’atar – Streetfood
During my stay in Aarhus I had the great chance to work at the street food booth Za’atar. The exotic name has its origin in Jerusalem, so we make and sell Middle Eastern dishes like wraps, falafel and bowls, which is really fascinating. Not only that, but we also prepare every meal fresh at the spot, that’s why Za’atar is so popular. Making the delicious food is not my only responsibility, I also have to take care about the customers and make sure they are satisfied. On top of that, I also have to make sure that the stand is clean and hygienic. Luckily, I can say that all of my co-workers are great people with their own stories, so that is also a reason why I love the job. There are more people from my school, Sarah and Oliver, that work at Za’atar, which is fun. The name of my boss is Corina and I have never had a nicer boss than her. She even made us Schnitzel one day. That is not all, she also does great work schedules so we have time to explore the beautiful city and to hang out with our new friends that we have met here. |
Demircan Seydanur@Shogun Wok Sushi
During my stay in Denmark I got the chance to work at the Streed Food market in Aarhus. There you can find many international dishes. I work at Shogun Wok Sushi. It takes me 20 minutes to get there by bus. There are two different shifts. One day I work from 9:30 am to 4 pm and the other day I work from 4 pm to 10 pm. My tasks are: preparing sushi bowls making sushi taking orders chopping vegetables doing the dishes and cleaning the kitchen Working in the kitchen can be stressful but I enjoy it. I also learned a few words in Danish. The working atmosphere is absolutely nice. My co-workers and my boss are very friendly, they are always supportive and ready to help me. So, I feel comfortable there. All in all, I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked at Shogun Wok Sushi. I have learned so much that will help me in my future career. |
Özüm Dincer@Garage BurgerBar
When I first heard that I was going to work in a burger bar, I was very happy. I've always wanted to know how to make good burgers because the company is known for making the best burgers. It does not only offer burgers, but also fries, milkshakes, alcoholic as well as soft drinks. I work for the same company but in two different locations. Monday-Wednesday (10:00-17:00) I worked at one location and Thursday-Friday (10:30-17:00) at the other one. My tasks are: - making preparations before the store opens, such as setting tables, providing napkins and arranging the groceries - preparing the salad, filling up the sauces and dips - taking orders - preparing and serving burgers, fries and drinks to customers - washing the dishes - clearing tables and keeping the shop clean. My co-workers are very nice and welcomed me with open arms in their team. I also have a very nice boss who helps me explore the city and gave me a prepaid card that gave me free access to food for my entire time in Denmark. Through my work I learned how to deal with the Danish currency, to communicate with the customers in English and thus I improved my English. I also learned how to make good burgers. I recommend everyone to take advantage of this unique opportunity! |
Grabherr Anna@La Cabra Coffee
During my stay in Denmark, I got the chance to work at La Cabra Coffee in Aarhus. La Cabra is a very popular café that sells very special and seasonal types of coffee from different countries, for example from Kenya, Colombia, Guatemala and Burundi. La Cabra is also well-known for its pastries, especially the “Kardemomme Snurr”. My shift usually starts in the morning and ends at a different time every day. Some days Iwork 7 hours, on others only 4 hours. That is because the café is being renovated and they don’t need as many staff members as planned. My main tasks are:
I don’t actually have to wear work clothes, apart from an apron to keep my clothes clean. My co-workers change every day, because they have so many people working there, but everyone is so nice. My two bosses Joe and Apostolos are super friendly. I have loved going to work since day one. Everyone always talks to me, and they have taught me a lot of new stuff. I think I am very lucky with my workplace, and I would definitely come back to this place. |
Gussnig Oliver@Za’atar
I have the pleasure to work for Za’atar Street Food while I am in Denmark. The working times are either from 10am to 4pm or from 4pm to 10pm. Every day it is hard for me to get out of bed but as soon as I arrive at my workplace, I enjoy it. I love my co-workers, I love the food we make and I love the people here. We can take breaks and eat something but no one actually leaves for a break. They sit next to the food truck and assist you when you need help. My main tasks are:
After my stay in Denmark, I will surely remember some people from Za’atar, for example Nico, Patryck and Mila. They are all so nice to me and always offer a helping hand. My boss is also really nice. I will surely make some wraps and bowls for my family at home and I’m sure they will enjoy them. |
Heinrich Heidi@Socios
During my stay in Denmark I had the chance to work at the new Spanish restaurant "Socios" which serves various types of tapas. The team I work with is very friendly and always open to teach me new things. My day usually starts at 11 o'clock. In the afternoon I help the chefs to prepare all the ingredients for the evening. My tasks are chopping vegetables, making sirups and mixing different flavoured butters. In the evening, I am a waitress and welcome guests, take their orders and also serve the food. After that I helped the others to clean the restaurant and to make everything ready for the next day. I am very grateful for the experience I was able to gain here and to get a better idea of what the job of a waitress is really like. |
Holler Robin@Danish Youth Team
During my stay in Denmark, I had the amazing opportunity to work for the Danish Youth Team which is a non-profit organization that helps to involve especially youngsters in international projects. Often these are Erasmus+ projects, so basically they participate in similar programmes as we do. When I first heard that I was expected to create databases, analyse and interpret them, I was really surprised, but I have to admit that these skills will be incredibly important in our future lives, as you can learn to take decisions based on raw data. In addition, I present my results to my really kind co-workers, which gives me the possibility to enhance my presentation skills, as well as my language skills even more. All in all, I would say that I have had a great time so far and look forward to gaining some more experiences over here in the beautiful city of Aarhus. |
Kogoj Timo @Plant Food
The company I work for is called Plant Food and is located in the street Graven, which is known for its numerous coffee shops and restaurants and draws the northern line of Aarhus’s old town. Plant Food offers healthy and delicious alternatives for vegans and everyone who enjoys high quality food. From Monday till Friday, I support the team in the morning preparing food for the day by cutting vegetables, producing mayo etc. Plant Food opens its restaurant at 12 o’clock. After that, I cook the dishes which are mainly burgers, sandwiches, and bowls in different variations, help to serve it and do the dishes. The working environment is straight up positive with superiors treating us very respectfully and being super nice and interesting co-workers from all different parts of the world like Bulgaria and Argentina. |
Nesensohn Florian@La Cabra
During my stay in Aarhus I am working as a service assistant in a cute café called La Cabra located in the city centre. Originally, La Cabra was just a coffee roastery based in Copenhagen, which then expanded and now sells its coffee to customers in numerous La Cabra cafés around the globe. The high-quality specialty coffee can be tasted in New York, Copenhagen, Bangkok and, of course, Aarhus. When you have your first day as an intern in a café its perfectly normal to start out with simple tasks like washing the dishes. What I love about working at La Cabra is how dedicated the whole team are to teach you more complex processes that take place behind a counter, so it didn’t take long until someone taught me how exactly I should treat the costumers when taking their orders, brew coffee by hand the basics of Latte Art. Switching between all of these different roles creates a very varied workday. That’s the exact opposite of washing dishes all day, like you would maybe expect from a 4-week internship abroad. When entering the café in the morning, you are received with open arms by the young staff crew, which is also a very pleasant aspect. Every co-worker you are going to talk to is so welcomingly nice, so that it is going to be quite impossible to have a miserable day at work. |
Penz Hanna@Tatashe
I work at the street food market at Tatashe, which is a Caribbean food truck and it was one of the first ones at this place. I have a lot to do, for example taking orders, cooking and serving meals. That sounds stressful but I have some kind and helpful co-workers. If I need any help or did something wrong, they are always ready to support me. The customers are always friendly and I am able to improve my English. I have also learned some words in Danish, for example ‘Enjoy it’ and ‘Thank you’. 😊
My boss is always friendly and asks me how I am doing. Also, in Denmark they don´t use their last names at all. They just call their boss by their first name, like Jack in my case. I already have two favorite co-workers, Abdi and Vitales. We always have something to laugh about.
I am really enjoying my time here as Jack is also very forthcoming if I ever need a day off. I have a four-day workweek. This is something I appreciate a lot because I have enough time to visit a lot of sights and cities.
I recommend everyone to take the chance and participate in this program 😉.

Pfleger Amrei@Café Englen
During my stay in Denmark I got the opportunity to work at café Englen in the center of Aarhus. It’s a café but you can also eat dinner there or drink some cocktails in the evening. The team are really nice and they took time to show me everything. Besides the different types of coffees, they also showed me how to make latte art and my boss even made a cocktail evening with me where he showed me how to mix all the drinks there. That was really nice! I usually work on 5 days a week and I’m there from 10 am to 5 pm. My main tasks are taking orders and preparing the drinks for the guests. I also serve the food and clear the tables. All in all, I am very grateful for the experiences I could gain and I think I am really lucky working here. I’m glad I have had the chance to improve my English here and I have even learned some Danish words. |
Rosinger Hanna@Last Week in Denmark
During my stay in Denmark, I had the chance to work at 'Last Week in Denmark'. This is a company that collects all the important weekly news, then summarizes it and publishes it in a newsletter on Sunday. My colleagues at work are always friendly and open to help me and there is a pleasant atmosphere. We often have lunch as a group and spend our breaks together. Robin and I are having a good time here. My tasks in the office are to contribute my ideas for a merchandise project, attend meetings and take courses in graphic design, typography, layout, printing and social media marketing to design different flyers and other creative promotional materials. I also take pictures for their newsletter and social media account. I was able to apply a lot of skills and knowledge that I acquired in my marketing and media design classes in school. I also learned a lot of new things and am grateful for the great experiences I gained. |
Rudigier Laura@ML Brows and Make-up Studio
During my stay in Denmark I got the chance to work at ML Brows and Make-up Studio. My working hours are from Monday to Friday from 10am-5pm. My task is to develop a marketing strategy for the company to attract more customers. This includes a new name, website optimization, planning and posting new posts for their social media account, comparing the prices and offers with the competition and much more. Every other week I work with a photographer. We edit her pictures together, cut videos, I learn how to properly set up the camera and how to build a set. I have a lot of variety in my job and there is always something to do. All the employees here are very nice and fun to work with. I can now put into practice what I learned in school, which is a very good exercise. I am very thankful for the experience to work here and can only recommend it because it is a really unique chance:). |
Schmidle Sarah@Za’atar
During my stay in Denmark I got to work at a Israeli restaurant Za’atar. “Za’atar“ is actually the name of the seasoning used for the dishes. It is located in the street food hall in Aarhus, which offers a wide variety of international food. We mainly sell wraps and bowls but also all sorts of fries. Depending on the shift, our workdays begin at either 10am or 4pm and last for about 6 hours. Our boss made a point to teach us everything there is to know about the restaurant, which is why we got to do a lot of different tasks including:
Even on slow days, work never gets boring thanks to our amazing co-workers, who welcomed us with open arms. I loved hearing all their stories on how they all ended up working there. All in all, I am very grateful for this experience and all the amazing people I got to meet! |
Schwarzhans Denise@Grød
While staying in Denmark, I had the pleasure to work at Grød. They offer different dishes like Matcha Mango Smoothie Bowl, Chicken Congee Bowls and many another Danish specialities. Therefore, I learned how to cook many new dishes. My working hours vary, however, I never work longer than six hours, which is great. My main tasks are:
All my co-workers are really nice and they were very patient with me. Most girls are around my age and have given me great tips on what to visit. My boss Anna is such a sweetheart and I felt welcome right from the start. She looks after me and makes sure everything is fine for me. I really like my workplace and think I was very lucky. The food tastes delicious. To sum up, I have learned to cook many different dishes and have tried some Danish specialities like Rødgrød med fløde. |
Türtscher Anna@DOKK1
I have the pleasure to work at café DOKK 1 and with its amazing team. On the first day I already got to know a lot of people, for example Kenny, my boss, and Line. I only had a few ideas about how it would be or should be, the only important thing was that I would feel comfortable there, but my expectations were exceeded. The young team there, which was not as small as I had first thought, was very welcoming and they immediately accepted me as a member of their great team. The work at DOKK 1 is very varied, because the employees have the opportunity to work partly in the kitchen and partly behind the counter, which I personally like very much. My daily tasks are:
|
Urban Leonie@Mad Mex
During my stay in Denmark, I am working at the popular Aarhus Street Food Hall. The booth I work at is called "Mad Mex" and of course it sells Mexican food like tacos, burritos, bowls and nachos. My main task is to prepare the different dishes. Each bowl, taco and burrito is individually prepared according to customers wishes. In addition, the kitchen has to be cleaned again and again in between and the ingredients have to be replenished. I always work with Argentinians, who always help me and are very friendly. I am always allowed to prepare my own food during my shifts and sometimes take leftover food home with me at the end of the workday. I like the tacos best, but I have also tried many burrito variations. What I don’t like so much is my work schedule. I work 6 days a week, but at different times every day. I only get time off on a weekday, so I can’t do much with my friends on weekends. Nevertheless, I always have fun with my co-workers, improved my English skills and I am really grateful for the experience. |
