Things to do in Malta
by Maximilian Fetz

Malta is famous for its summer tourism. On the one hand, there are a lot of glorious beaches, either sandy or rocky, all round the island. On the other hand, Malta is a very historical country with Valletta as its oldtown capital and over 350 churches scattered throughout Malta and Gozo.

Our free time activities in Malta
During our stay we have visited different beaches. Our favourite one is called “Għajn Tuffieħa Bay“, which is only a few steps from the well-known Golden Bay Beach away. For those, who like it rather stony, there is “St. Peter’s Pool” located in the south of Malta, which is suitable for cliff jumping. The beaches in general have crystal waters and a wonderful landscape, therefore there are mostly very crowded.

On our last day we did some water sports. Our work-placement boss paid us a jet ski ride in the Golden Bay. Unfortunately, Malta’s law says, that jet skis must have a speed limit of 25 miles per hour, so we weren’t able to speed up as fast as we wanted.

Beside our beach days, we also made different sightseeing tours. Valletta has a lot to offer, even though it’s only two square kilometres big. For example, there is the famous St. John’s Cathedral, the Barrakka Gardens and the Grand Harbour.

The Three Cities, which are only a short ferry trip from Valletta away, is the oldest region of Malta. We spent an afternoon in these very small and charming cities and took some photos of the typical Maltese buildings and streets.

Another interesting trip was our trip to Marsaxlokk. The little town in the south of Malta is known for its port promenade and the big amount of colourful Maltese boats in the water.

In conclusion, it can be said that Malta is a multifariously, little island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. Although, we were not used to the hot temperatures, we had a great mixture between relaxing beach days and city sightseeing tours.
